Brother Tom's Sermons

When God Speaks

“And Moses said, ‘I will not turn aside and see this great sight—why the bush is not burnt.’  And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, He called unto him out of the midst of the bush and said, ‘Moses, Moses.’  And he said, ‘Here am I’.”

                                                                                                                        Exodus 3:3-4

How busy we tend to get at times,

With so many “things” to do;

We’ve got chores at homes and responsibilities at work

And never seem to get through.

Quite early we arise each day

And oh so late to bed,

That our bodies are weary and our minds so bleary

Because of the “stuff” we’ve stored in our head.

Yes, we’re all “stressed out” and ready to quit

Because of all the pressure that we feel;

We sometimes wish we could run far away

And get our lives back on an even keel.

It’s in those times when we’re oh so weary

And life’s about to cave in,

That there, in the midst of everything,

We hear the Word that God does send:

“My child, My child,” He whispers to us

And calls us personally by name,

“You’re much too busy and burdened by things

As you pursue possessions, fortune and fame.

“Your heart is heavy and your mind’s so full

Of all the world can offer;

And in the midst of it all you’ve wandered far from Me,

Forgetting the “treasures” from My own coffer.

“Take time today to spend with Me

As I whisper My words of love;

The things of this world will fade away,

But not those things I’ll give you from My storehouse in Heaven above.

“Yes, take some time to commune with Me

As I call you to turn aside—

In so doing you’ll discover what you’ve sought all along:

True love, joy and peace—when with Jesus you do abide.”
