“Who
Am I”
“When I
consider the heavens, the works of Your fingers.
. .the moons and the stars, which You have
ordained. . .what is man that You are mindful of
him? And the son of man, that You visit him?”
Psalm 8:3-4
In all the world
around us
There are
evidences of God’s love:
The sun, the
moon and all the twinkling stars
Are reminders of
our Creator up above.
We see them from
the mountaintops
Or throughout
the valleys below;
Yes, they all
are “silent witnesses”
Of the One we
should all get to know.
Yet when we
consider how small and frail we are
In comparison to
mountains and towering trees,
It seems that we
are of little worth—
Which is plain
in comparison to me.
But all that
changed one night in Bethlehem
When the Father
sent His Son
To show us just
how much He truly loved us—
Yes, each and
every one.
And to the Cross
went Jesus, God’s own Son,
To die in every
person’s place
So we could live
forever with God
And His great
judgment never to face.
Oh, “Who
am I?” that God should care
Enough for our
Lord to die?
Yes, “Who
am I?” that He should want
A sinner like me
to live with Him on high?
The answer does
escape me—
For my sins are
oh so exceedingly bad;
I can only
respond to Him in love
Because of His
grace that makes me eternally glad.
“Thank
you, Lord, for keeping me
As the
apple of your eye;
Help me to
live each day in service and love
Until I
see Your face in Heaven bye and bye.”
